Our brand first uses the three main colors of the Philippine flag, which is red, blue, and yellow, adding bright tones like orange and light blue to complete the color scheme. We integrate ethnic patterns to represent our Filipino heritage, and playful fonts that share our happy nature, all behind a white background with the Fanshawe logo overlay.
Social media content is central to showcase the club digitally and provide updates to our members through online platforms and group chats. Our posts highlights club introductions, event announcements, Filipino facts, Tagalog language lessons, Fanshawe services, seasonal greetings, and photo activity coverage.
Our social media post design features five main backgrounds in rotation from our color palette, and it uses a combination of ethnic patterns for its own identity. Real life images, vectors, and icons are then used to add visual interest. The designs are made in Adobe Illustrator, and the thumbnails too are produced in Adobe Photoshop.
Printed marketing material is what brings our brand all together, and displays our identity across events and campus activities. Our publications include event signage, booth activation posters, certificates, business cards, and sign-up sheets. We also got the opportunity to showcase our posters across five campuses and buildings.
The Bayanihan Club is known for its entertaining activities. Our signature events include arts and craft days, term-end parties, campus club days, newcomer sessions, mentoring workshops, and community activations. I led the creation, organization, planning, design, hosting, and execution of the club's events with my officers.
Coordinating events is quite a challenge since it involves a lot of hands-on logistics. It starts with brainstorming an idea, then communicating the booking to the FSU. Other parts of planning include reserving the venue, selecting catering, requesting av equipment, purchasing event material, and writing the program.
Miscellaneous work includes checking who officers are available, publishing social media marketing, ensuring the music and presentation are ready, checking if mics and speakers are booked, and solving problems as they arise. It's always hectic and a lot of hardwork, but it's worth it in the end to see people smile, laugh, and enjoy.
The Bayanihan Club was founded by Shiela Geniblazo back in October 2023 to help support the Filipino student community at Fanshawe College. I discovered the club while exploring volunteering opportunities, and got involved in the club's activities immediately after joining, from hosting mentoring sessions to filming promo videos.
I continued to participate in the club's events, representing the organization, and giving it my all. A few months after seeing my potential, I got the opportunity to become club president. I was elated, getting the chance to showcase my leadership skills, and combine my multimedia talents to create a great experience to this community.
During my term, I was able to set and achieve goals for the club such as increasing student diversity by welcoming other nationalities, enhancing student engagement while sharing Filipino heritage through organizing creative events, cultural activities, and promo booths, and streamlining internal operations and documentation.
Additionally, I boosted the digital presence of the club through a new brand identity and activating social media community platforms. Overall, my time in the club was an awesome experience from meeting tons of new people to doing things I love, especially hosting and managing event coordination for the first time!
